Bastrop Community Health Center – CommuniHealth Services to hold Open House
Bastrop, LA – CommuniHealth Services held an open house/ribbon cutting on Tuesday, January 10, 2023. The event offered an opportunity for Morehouse parish residents to visit CHS’s newest facility and learn about the services offered. Katie Parnell, CEO for CHS stated, “The consolidation of our services will be very convenient for families. We are able to provide an array of services to patients of all ages under one roof.”
The Architecture Alliance Group, out of Monroe, designed the new state of the art medical facility which is around 42,000 square feet. The clinic serves CHS’s growing patient base and consolidated four existing health center sites: Bastrop Family Practice and Behavioral Health Center; Bastrop Pediatric Clinic; Bastrop Dental Clinic; and the Administrative offices. The facility includes 40 offices, 2 nurse’s stations, 22 exam rooms, 4 behavioral health rooms, 2 flex rooms, 6 dental operatories, pharmacy, laboratory, radiology, and a community room. The Pharmacy is expected to open within 1Q2023. Morehouse General Hospital is leasing space to provide laboratory and radiology services, which is expected to open within 1Q2023. Groundbreaking began in February 2021, with Gentry’s Construction, out of Monroe, completing the facility mid November 2022.
CommuniHealth Services is a non-profit organization that was funded by the federal government as a FQHC (federally qualified healthcare center). CHS opened its first clinic in Morehouse Parish in September 2007. Today, CHS has expanded its operations to include 11 locations throughout Morehouse, Union, and Ouachita parishes, including 5 school-based health centers. CHS currently provides a full array of healthcare services including medical, dental, behavioral health and pharmacy services.
