Morehouse Parish offers many services to support senior living. The smaller size of the community is attractive to independent seniors who still drive automobiles and shop. The Council on Aging at 821 Washburn, provides well balanced meals at a very reasonable cost Monday through Friday. Other options are available including apartments in the Historic Bastrop High School which was recently renovated into 1 and 2 bedroom units and provides independence with a community atmosphere. There are also four extended care facilities in Bastrop and Mer Rouge which allow patients to remain near family and friends.
